Weekend

Just a short one with the weekend news>>

Friday I don’t think I worked at all really – went out for most of the morning after some training and managed about 2 hours when the kids went to swimming training. Apparently JD was a little better behaved this time. As Friday nights go, we were expecting a quiet one as we were heading to the Alisons’ Sat – they popped in for a quick drink. It was pretty quiet and not late and only a few drinks – nobody stumbled out. Bought a case of bourbon& cola energy drinks to try which are pretty tasty but in large print “limited to 2 per day” – yes, I had only 2. JD challenged Shelby to racing on Playstation & K watched her movie – chilled evening.

Oh, didn’t train Friday as got a nice round sore blister from a combination the new orthotics & tender heel on Thursday, so could not run at all – did some light weights. Sat also did not run as still on the mend and pretty much played with the kids all morning. First woke up to no milk so grabbed the kids and off we walked to the dairy. Was a little chilly at first but warmed up. They then “sneaked” out with mom to get some goodies for fathers day. They had been so excited for a week for fathers day and all the planning. Sat afternoon was more playing and everything comes to a halt at 4:30 for my fishing shows. Three shows one after the other which end at 6pm – only then did we head off to Wayne & Deb. Lee, Carmen & kids joined in for a seafood paella by Debs – I had “spagbol” with the kids [I know]. Relaxing & fun evening – Kim & kids left while we were watching the end of the Warriors game and I followed soon after. Kids had spent most of the night at our house watching a movie and playing playstation, under the supervision on Page, Lee & Carmen’s eldest. All very well behaved and didn’t wreck the house.

Sun morning 6:35 “woken” up with presents, kisses& hugs. Had some coffee and choc fudge to start the day. Then off to the club to meet new recruit. She is planning her first 21km at Auckland – went on an easy 5km run. Club starts up again on wed 10th so hopefully more will be coming heading into summer. Home to be met by K at the door “keys please, shoes off’ and led to a hot bath prepared by the kids – who felt it necessary to all jump in as well. After, taken to a bacon, eggs, tomato & toast breakfast – haven’t had for ages – yummy!!! I was planning a little family fishing but wind was making the day miserable and wouldn’t have been fun for all – so I suggested a drive to KFC for lunch – another thing we haven’t done for months.

Nice drive along the coastline, good ’ol fashioned KFC for lunch and nice drive back. Came home for some choc icecream – K withlollies all over and JD with choc flake over. 3pm we went off to “Groblersdal” [wayne & Amanda] to meet Alison’s for a afternoon of board games. JD & Ronin on the playstation& K drawing & played with us. First board game was a new one which pitched boys against girls – we won. Second we played “charades” which was really funny. In between, another few drinks and food from Sat night with a little added, including a hot fudge choc cake dessert. All got home by 8pm and kids were alseep pretty quickly after a long but fun weekend.

Picked up 2kg Fri to Mon morning = detox for the week!! Kim also started a 10 day detox different to mine but needs to be done every few months. Her training going well, started slowly 2 weeks ago and building up nicely and injury free!

Lets see – weather first. When we came for a week in July 06 to see the country [right, in a week] it was apparently the coldest winter in decades – summer 2007 was the best summer in decades – winter 2008 the most rain in decades – what’s left for 2009 or should I dare to ask. Apparently there has not been a dry weekend since May! Lucky it’s not like the “highveld” rains but have been some real showers.

School – the school funding is down so some changes include the closing of the galley [tuckshop] and the removal of dustbins – yup – the kids have to bring their rubbish home. Makes for a nice surprise when you open the homework book to find a frankfurter. Imagine the conversation – hey JD, when you finish that double chocolate yogurt, wrap it with the spoon carefully in this small bag, tie a knot and put on top of your books – “sure mom”….

Singstar Champion – with the introduction of Playstation into the family over the weekend I am pleased to say the kids haven’t moaned that they want to play 24/7. JD & I have a challenge race for about 30min after dinner and last night after that the family [boys against girls] had a Singstar competition. We all had a chance to choose a song>> I was Top of the Pops twice with the oldies [Martha & The Vandelas et al] and K mashed us with the some Hiphop / Rap songs. She gets into gear and off she goes – I couldn’t catch my breathe. Good fun>>

Kittens – on the way first week Oct! Our little Disney has been confirmed as being 4/5 weeks pregnant. We suspected a week or so ago and had it confirmed by the vet an hour ago – already had two calls to book a kitten. Oh boy, kids are going to be so excited.

Business - the attorneys have confirmed most of the agreements have been completed and finals Mon “next week” – haven’t seen anything but have got the invoice. Marketing is going to start today and off we go>>

Fishing – cleaned all the gear ready for some serious summer fishing, can’t wait. Amanda up the road isn’t too impressed as after our attempt on Sunday, the boys left the left over bait in the garage – not in the freezer! Needless to say, we wind our windows up when we drive past – hell, I sold my car because the smell wouldn’t go!

Off to lunch, later>
